Domestic BER

DOMESTIC BERs

We are fully qualified to carry out Domestic Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessments and their associated Certification.

Since the 1st of January 2009, a BER certificate has become compulsory for all homes being sold or rented (with some exemptions). The law now requires that a seller, or his/her agent, must provide these certificates to prospective property purchasers/tenants, so that they can make fully informed choices with respect to the energy efficiency of these buildings.

In addition, please note that since the 8th of June 2010, the SEAI require that a Domestic BER Assessment is carried out on all dwellings after the Home Energy Saving (HES) scheme grant improvement works have been completed. This is required by the SEAI in order to formally validate/quantify the improvements implemented to the dwelling.

*** Please note that a €100 Grant is now available from the SEAI for a BER Assessment as part of the HES Grant Scheme. The BER must be carried out “After” HES improvement works have been completed.

**** Please note that an “After” BER Assessment is compulsory as part of the HES Grant Scheme.

Please note that while you are entitled to apply for each Measure there is a minimum requirement that the grant amount in the first application must be €500 or greater. The BER grant cannot form part of this €500 amount.
